Review: Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation

On my last Sephora purchase, I received three samples of foundation.  I'm always excited to try new foundations... it's kind of like the quest to find the "perfect" mascara.  Never ending, but I won't give up!  ;-)

One of the samples was Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation.  I was pleasantly surprised at the size of this sample... usually I don't feel there is enough of a sample to really tell how it covers, but this one gave ample!  The full size product is retails at Sephora for $42.00, and is available in 28 shades, so you will be sure to find one that works for your skin tone.  My particular sample came with three colors, of which I tried the lightest one (oh the joys of being transparent).  ;-)

The cream texture was a little dry, making it a little hard to work with.  Perhaps in a full size container it would be easier, but I just felt like it was a little dry.  They do recommend the Cover FX Cream Foundation Brush ($38), which may help.

The coverage it provided was wonderful.  Very even and FULL.  If you are a sheer or buildable coverage kind of gal, this is not for you.  I personally, like having a medium to full coverage, as it covers the redness in my skin better.  However, I felt like it took a lot, A LOT of work to get that even coverage.  It did last all day, with no budging.  But I did feel like my skin wasn't "breathing".  It felt a little heavy on, and although stayed in place, just gave me a very "makeup-y" feel.

Overall, I give this a 3 out of 5 stars.  The coverage is wonderful, but lacks a smooth consistency, and gives a heavier feel.

Review: Olay Fresh Effects Shine, Shine Go Away

I received a sample of Olay's new Fresh Effects Shine, Shine Go Away, and was really excited to try it!  Although my skin is not oily/shiny, my chin is... so I was excited to see how this worked!

My first impression was... weird.  The cleanser is a metallic grey color, which just threw me off.  I tried to get a picture of the color for you, but it just wasn't coming out true to color.  I expected there to be a metallic smell (strictly based on the color), but was surprised that the scent was pleasing.  Fragrant, but not overpowering.

I lathered it between my hands, and it gave a small amount of creamy foam, which was nice.  But to be honest, I was still having a hard time getting past the color!  As I cleaned my face with it, it was fine.  Nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad.  The consistency was nice and I felt like it was cleansing.

After rinsing my face off, I immediately noticed how stiff and "squeaky" my face felt.  I love a good clean to my face, but I literally felt like it has stripped all moisture off my face.  Even after moisturizing, I still felt as though my skin was dry.  Throughout the day, I kept checking my chin to see if it had made a difference in the shine.  The answer, no.  Perhaps if you use this more than one time, you will get better results (less shine), but I chose not to use this again due tot he drying factor.

Bottom line: If you have oily skin, this may be a great cleanser for you, if you can get past the metallic color.  Dry skin friends, beware.  This is not for us!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Sephora Gift Sets. Enough said.

Seriously, there is nothing I love more, than the amazing sets that are put together for Christmas gifts. So in case you were wondering, you are welcome to get me any of these listed below. :-)

My all time favorite, Lash Stash. There is nothing better than getting to try several of the best selling mascaras out there. I am always on the hunt to try new ones (and review them of course!), so this is will definitely be on my must-have list this year.

Fresh Sugar Additicion Mini Lip Set - I am IN LOVE with these little gems, and cannot wait to try the new colors. They are the perfect amount of sheer, and SO moisturizing!

Sephora Color Daze Blockbuster - This is the BEST way (and URER cheap) to try just about every darn color from the Sephora brand. I mean, the value of this bad boy is $370! I bought one a few years ago, and haven't even made a dent. Love. It.

Tinsel Town Collector's Set - Who doesn't love mini nail polish collections? I mean, they are smaller, so they won't go bad as quickly, and if you don't love a color, you're not stuck with a ton of it. Plus, you can layer the colors to get even more color options!

Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Collection - I am super excited to try this one! If ever there was a palate with all of my favorite colors, this one is it! And for $32, it's a steal!

Sephora Gloss Lab - Ten shimmery lip glosses... PERFECT for the holidays! Who doesn't love a good gloss? And another great bargin at $25! Keep them all for yourself or split them up and share. You'll l.o.v.e. this kit.

Oh, how I love Walgreens... (and coupons!)

Here is a great example of why I love Walgreen's, and, think it's important to carry your coupons with you everywhere you go... while I was making my weekly Walgreen's run this week, I stumbled across some great bargains. First, I always look for the orange tags that mark a "last chance" item. This usually means it's discounted... drastically (my kind of beauty find)!

Great deal #1 - Rimmel Mascara

I found this Rimmel "Glam Eyes Mascara" on clearance for $1.87. I happened to have my handy, dandy coupon organizer with me which had a $1.00 off any Rimmel eye product coupon. Mascara for $0.87? Yes please!

Great deal #2 - Rimmel Nail Polish

Walgreens was having a sale on their Rimmel "Lasting Finish - Pro Nail Polish" - 2 for $4.00! This itself is a great deal as they are usually $3.99 each. However, enter handy, dandy coupon organizer. I had a Buy one, get one free Rimmel Lasting Finish - Pro Nail Polish coupon... oh yes, this means two nail polishes for $2.00! But wait, it gets better! I was also able to use my coupon for $1.00 off any Rimmel Nail Product (love stacking those coupons)!!! Great deal? You do the math! ;-)

GREAT coupons!

Head on over here and snag some great beauty coupons! You may have to scroll throught a few pages, but I found:

$2.00 off any Rimmel Lip Product (available to use at Walmart only)
$1.00 off any NYC Color Eye Product (available to use at CVS only)
$2.00 off any Sally Hansen Nail Product when you buy any SH nail color
$3.00 off any Sally Hansen Wax Product

Hurry on over... once their print limit is reached, they are gone!
